An amazing variety of nature, as well as a glimpse into Iceland's history
Highlights: Stunning waterfalls • Myrdalsjokull glacier • Black sand coastline • Imposing Reynisdrangar rock formations • Skogar Folk Museum
Activities: Sightseeing Tours in IcelandOn this tour you see a great variety of stunning landscapes. We travel along the south coast of Iceland, through verdant farmland, with views of glaciers and striking waterfalls. This is one of Iceland's most beautiful regions; an area of historical significance, as well as the setting for the famous Njal's Saga. We drive as far as Vik, a charming village surrounded by dramatic high bird cliffs. Along the way we stop at the graceful, 64 m high Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which is unique in that you can walk behind the waterfall and across to the other side. We also stop at the impressive, and much-photographed, Skogafoss waterfall, with its 62 m high thundering cascade.
We visit the Skogar Folk Museum near the waterfall, to get an insight into the lives of Icelanders in in the late 18th and early 19th century. The Museum preserves a collection of old buildings, books, manuscripts, tools and equipment, as well as handicrafts.
